Job Summary

A corporate associate is a lawyer who works at a corporate law firm and may practice in various areas depending on their clients, from healthcare and medical malpractice to banking litigation and government relations to intellectual property and insurance coverage.


Duties And Responsibilities
  •              From time to time take instructions from the Partners in respect of various assignments and transactions as and when required.
  •            Ensuring that all transactions undertaken by the Associate comply with the relevant laws and regulati
  •           Complete extensive case-related research into relevant laws and regulations, negotiate on behalf of clients, draft and interpret contracts and legal documents, and oversee compliance to these documents.
  •        Where required, make Court appearances whether in Judges’, Magistrates’ or Registrars’ Chambers, Open Court, Commission for Mediation and Arbitration, Tax Appeals Board, arbitration forums, etc on behalf of the Firm’s (or its affiliates’) clients, carrying out legal research in respect thereof and drafting the necessary pleadings in that respect.
  •       Throughout any legal process, creating and maintaining a good rapport with the Firm’s clients. This includes communicating often and explaining complex legal proceedings and concepts.
  •           Take instructions, assignment, tasks given by the Partners in all other areas which the Firm specialises in, most notably, in project finance, banking, corporate and commercial, property and real estate, mining, capital markets & securities and labour.
  •           The Associate role will include, but not limited to, drafting and/or reviewing of contracts/agreements, drafting and registration of security documents, preparation of necessary documentation for trademark applications and renewals and preparation of minutes of meetings where the Firm is the appointed recorder thereof
  •              Prepare the appropriate legal documents for trial or court proceedings.
  •             Evaluate new business partnerships with vendors and subcontractors.
  •             Represent the company in legal proceedings.
  •             Design and oversee the company’s policy and position on legal matters.
  •             Protect the company against legal risks and violations.
  •             Examine the legal issues related to new products and services.
  •             Negotiate deals on behalf of the company.
  •             Guide management on regulatory and compliance issues to ensure compliance with legal regulations.

Education Other Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in law.
  • Licensed to practice law from the State Bar Association.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a corporate lawyer.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding managerial and negotiation skills.
