We are a company built by passionate people with long-standing roots in the original family-run safari companies of East Africa, such as Ker and Downey, which originated in 1946, Rekero Camp in 1986 and Olivers Camp in 1992. With a pioneering eye, our founders, many of whom are still involved today, combined their safari experience, passion, and commitment to East Africa, and in 2004, formed Asilia Africa.  They knew that their diverse characters and family spirit could bring real change to East Africa in a meaningful way, which lead them to choose the name Asilia – Swahili for ‘genuine’ or ‘authentic’. A Vehicle Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing an organization's fleet of vehicles. This role involves the efficient utilization, maintenance, and compliance of the fleet, ensuring that it supports the organization's operational needs while minimizing costs and maximizing safety and sustainability.

    1. Fleet Management:
  Develop and implement comprehensive fleet management policies, procedures, and guidelines.

 Monitor and maintain accurate records of all vehicles, including registration, insurance, and maintenance history.

 Evaluate and select suitable vehicles for the fleet, considering factors like cost, fuel efficiency, safety, and environmental impact.
 
    2. Vehicle Maintenance:
Schedule and oversee regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure vehicles are safe and in compliance with regulations.

 Establish relationships with maintenance providers and negotiate service contracts to ensure cost-effective repairs and maintenance.

 Track and manage vehicle maintenance budgets.
 
   3. Fuel Management:
  Implement fuel-efficient driving practices and technologies to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

 Monitor fuel consumption and expenses, and implement strategies to minimize costs.

 Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to fuel usage.
 
    4. Driver Management:
 Recruit, train, and supervise drivers, ensuring they are aware of company policies and safety procedures.

Monitor driver behaviour, including adherence to traffic laws and efficient driving practices.

Address driver performance issues and provide coaching and feedback.
 
   5. Compliance and Safety:
 Ensure that all vehicles comply with national regulations, including emissions standards and safety requirements.

  Develop and implement safety programs to reduce accidents and injuries.

 Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
 
    6. Inventory and Procurement:
 Manage vehicle inventory, including acquisitions and disposals.

 Negotiate with suppliers and dealerships to purchase or lease vehicles at competitive rates.

Maintain accurate records of vehicle-related expenses and budgets.
 
     7.Reporting:

Generate regular reports on fleet performance, including costs, utilization, and safety metrics.

Analyse data to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
 
    8.Sustainability:

 Explore and implement sustainable practices, such as adopting electric or hybrid vehicles and reducing the organization's carbon footprint.

Monitor and report on the environmental impact of the fleet.
 
 

    1.  Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Logistics, or Transportation Management) is preferred.

  2. Proven experience in fleet management, logistics, or a related field.

 3.Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, safety regulations, and fleet management software.

 4.Excellent communication and leadership skills.

5.Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

6.Familiarity with environmental and sustainability practices in fleet management is a plus.

7.Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to fleet operations.
