Job Summary
As a Senior Mechanic, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our company's fleet of vehicles and mechanical equipment.

You will lead a team of mechanics, manage comprehensive maintenance schedules, conduct thorough diagnostics, and train and supervise junior mechanics.

Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our operations.

Duties And Responsibilities
1.Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and oversee repair activities on vehicles, machinery, and equipment including engines, transmissions, brakes, tires, and electrical systems.

2.Ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition, especially after challenging conditions and ready for guest activities like game drives.

3.Conduct frequent inspections to promptly identify and address mechanical issues, utilizing diagnostic tools when necessary.

4.Respond promptly to emergencies, especially during guest safaris, ensuring vehicle readiness.

5.Collaborate with the technical team to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues, maintaining detailed maintenance records and reporting significant findings.

6.Lead a team of mechanics and technicians, providing guidance, training, and technical support to ensure efficient and high-quality maintenance work.

7.Conduct thorough diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of vehicles and equipment, adhering to manufacturer specifications.

8.Supervise complex repair and overhaul projects, such as engine and body rebuild, transmission repairs, and electrical system troubleshooting.

9.Manage spare parts inventory levels, procure necessary components, and optimize costs while minimizing downtime.

10.Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to prioritize maintenance tasks, ensuring minimal disruption to guest experiences and operational efficiency.

11.Repair or replace defective or damaged parts/components using appropriate tools and equipment, ensuring functionality and performance verification post- repair.

12.Maintain accurate, detailed records of maintenance and repair work, including parts used, costs, and time spent.

13.Order and maintain spare parts and supply as required, adhering to safety regulations and company policies.

14.Communicate effectively and professionally with mechanics, technicians, managers, and staff, providing training and guidance to junior team members when needed.

15.Ensure health and safety principles at workplace are adhered to all the time.

16.Ability to effectively manage a team of at least twenty mechanics.

Education Other Skills Required
Education: Higher Diploma / bachelor’s degree in automotive / mechanical engineering.

Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety regulations.

Experience: A minimum of 6 years' experience as a mechanic, ideally in a remote or safari camp setting, demonstrating a solid background in vehicle and equipment maintenance.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing various types of vehicles and equipment, showcasing a strong technical aptitude.

Problem-Solving: Ability to efficiently troubleshoot mechanical issues, indicating a capability to address challenges effectively.

Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with other team members, contributing positively to the lodge's overall success, emphasizing teamwork and cooperation.

Adaptability: Comfortable working in diverse and challenging environments, reflecting flexibility and adaptability to varying work conditions.

Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showcasing both self-reliance and collaboration skills.

Work Ethic: Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, indicating a strong work ethic and commitment to delivering results.

Remote Area Work: Ability and willingness to work in remote areas, particularly National Parks, underscoring the readiness for the specific location demands.

Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, necessary for addressing complex mechanical issues.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, essential for effective interaction with team members and guests.

Driver's License: Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
