Job Summary
We are looking to hire a detail-oriented HVAC technician to install, maintain and repair HVAC systems. The HVAC technician will be skilled in cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems. You will guide and advise the customer to select the most appropriate air quality system to fulfill their requirements. You will be responsible for air quality systems from installation to end-of-life by performing maintenance, warranty and emergency repairs. To be successful in this role, customer satisfaction, safety and comfort should be your top priority. Ideal candidates will be patient, and have excellent organizational and troubleshooting skills.
Duties And Responsibilities
Should have knowledge of both split system air conditioners and window type air conditioners.
Asset Control - Ensure the equipment is maintained to required standards and specifications.
Supervises a Team
Lead HVAC crew(s) and participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems to ensure that the work performed is in compliance with blueprints, manufacturer specifications, and written and/or verbal instructions
Coordinate schedules to ensure proper distribution of work and adequate staffing
Track, analyze, and report on progress, trends, and issues, and recommend solutions and improvements
Implement preventive maintenance programs for air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment
Train personnel on activities relating to air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance to ensure an acceptable work performance level
Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment
Ensure compliance of applicable Safety Standards and procedures
Programs, operates, and maintains the facility dialup based critical and remote building automation system to provide remote service, alarms and monitoring
Sets up, troubleshoots, repairs, tests and calibrates electronic components for EMS computer control
Troubleshoots, maintains, modifies and repairs heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems and equipment including DX (direct expansion) and hydronic systems, reciprocating chillers, 250ton centrifugal and 190 ton rotary screw chillers, heat exchangers, fans and fan motors, pumps and pump motors, electric and pneumatic controls, and associated safety, overcurrent and other equipment protection devices ensuring that they operate at peak efficiency and conserve energy usage
Education Other Skills Required
Must have the manual dexterity to operate equipment, work in confined spaces, ability to use hand/electric cart, ability to use power and hand tools, requires crouching and/or crawling, and ability to use a ladder
2 years full time Diploma/Trade Certificate in Air Conditioning.
Completed Electrical/Electronic Technologist Diploma or Industrial Electrician an asset
Familiarity with drive electrical/electronic schematics and testing/measuring equipment
Computer literacy with common computer applications, servo application software experience an asset
A Mature, energetic and quick witted
A recognised qualification in refrigeration and air conditioning
Preferable trade tested artisan
Hospitality experience advantageous
Be flexible with regards to working hours
Ability to work independently and for long hours with little supervision
