Job Summary
Swahili Honey is the second largest producer of honey in Tanzania. We work with over 1800 smallholder farmers to produce world class honey that is ethically sourced and harvested. We are looking for beekeeping officers (9) to support our supply chain interventions through mobilization, training and mentoring of smallholder farmers.
Reports to: Project Accountant
Duties And Responsibilities
Promoting beekeeping and improved/modern hives.
Develop training sessions and materials on beekeeping, hive management, quality honey harvesting, refining and marketing
Set up and train local beekeeping association and groups of farmers
Set up, plan, supervise and monitor implementation of beekeeping projects by the local beekeeping association and groups
Create and submit to the Accountant the budget for training of local beekeeping associations
To ensure that all project reporting (internal and external) is completed in a timely and accurate manner following stipulated procedures and reporting formats
Support management in all aspects of the project management cycle including activity planning and delivery, tracking expenditure against contractual budget, monitoring and recording progress
Maintain a monitoring and evaluation database to generate evidence of achievements.
Build effective relationships and develop networks with all stakeholders including local and regional authorities, and other stakeholders
Support in distribution of modern hives to the trained farmers and maintaining proper documentation for the same
To perform any other related duties as may be assigned time to time by the Supervisor.
Education Other Skills Required
Bachelor, Diploma or Certificate in Beekeeping Science and Technology
Completed training under the Beekeeping Training Institute
Minimum of 1-year experience in beekeeping activities
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to train and coach others
Ability to mobilize farmers at the grassroots level
