Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled CPA Accountant on behalf of our client to manage the financial operations in their mining company. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and provide insights for cost optimization and operational efficiency. This role is crucial in managing financial records, budgets, audits, and taxation in the complex mining environment.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare accurate financial statements, reports, and forecasts in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Monitor and analyze mining costs, project expenses, and profitability.
- Manage tax planning and compliance, including income tax, VAT, and other mining-related taxes.
- Conduct internal audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations and corporate policies.
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for mining projects.
- Liaise with external auditors, government authorities, and financial institutions.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for operational improvements.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and oversee capital expenditure tracking.
Education Other Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and mining-specific financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Solid knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance in the mining industry.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with various teams.
- Experience with cost accounting and budgeting for large capital projects.
