Job Summary
As a Commercial Accountant you will play a pivotal role in managing the branch’s financial operations. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with experience in branch accounting, clearing and forwarding, tax, and compliance. The role also entails providing office administration support, ensuring smooth operations of the branch.
Duties And Responsibilities
Branch Accounting:
Manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the branch, including accounts payable, receivables, general ledger, and reconciliations.
Monitor and report on branch performance, preparing financial statements and reports as required.
Ensure accurate recording of transactions and timely month-end closures.
Tax and Compliance:
Handle all tax matters, including VAT, income tax, and other statutory filings, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.
Collaborate with tax authorities and external auditors on financial matters, audits, and tax returns.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Clearing and Forwarding:
Manage the clearing and forwarding process, ensuring smooth import/export activities, document verification, and customs clearance.
Collaborate with logistics and shipping partners to ensure timely delivery of goods and resolve any arising issues.
Prepare and manage documentation for all clearing and forwarding transactions.
Office Administration:
Oversee office administrative functions, including maintaining office supplies, handling correspondence, and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations.
Act as the primary point of contact for branch-related queries and issues, maintaining an efficient communication flow.
Support HR in branch personnel administration tasks, such as maintaining employee records and processing payroll.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare regular financial reports and analysis to support decision-making by management.
Monitor key financial indicators, and identify and communicate any discrepancies or potential issues.
Assist in the development of the branch's budget and provide forecasts as needed.
Internal Controls and Process Improvement:
Ensure robust internal controls are in place to safeguard branch assets and financial integrity.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency in accounting and administration.
Conduct periodic audits of financial and administrative systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Education Other Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
Proven experience in branch accounting, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Experience with tax, compliance, and statutory regulations.
Familiarity with clearing and forwarding procedures.
Strong proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with branch accounting experience preferred.
Experience in clearing and forwarding, tax handling, and compliance is highly desirable.
