Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to join our team. The M&E Officer will be responsible for implementing and coordinating monitoring and evaluation activities across the organization's programs. This role ensures that program data is collected, analyzed, and used to improve program performance and inform strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in data management, and a passion for using data to drive impactful change in community development projects.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop and implement M&E frameworks, tools, and procedures to monitor the effectiveness of programs.
- Track program progress through regular field visits, surveys, and evaluations, ensuring data collection is accurate and timely.
- Lead in the design of performance indicators, M&E plans, and results frameworks in collaboration with program teams.
- Regularly update monitoring tools to align with project goals and donor requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee data collection processes, ensuring consistency and quality of data from multiple sources.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to assess the effectiveness and impact of programs.
- Conduct data verification exercises to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports summarizing program results, achievements, and challenges.
- Train and support program staff and field teams on data collection methods, M&E tools, and reporting requirements.
- Facilitate workshops and capacity-building sessions on M&E processes for project teams and partners.
- Draft comprehensive M&E reports, including recommendations for program improvements and adjustments.
- Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories to share with stakeholders, donors, and partners.
- Ensure all reporting deadlines are met and that reports adhere to donor guidelines and formats.
- Work closely with program teams to ensure that M&E findings are used to inform program design, strategy, and decision-making.
- Coordinate with external evaluators and researchers during program evaluations and impact assessments.
- Collaborate with partners, government agencies, and stakeholders to align M&E activities and ensure data sharing.
- Ensure that all M&E activities comply with internal and donor policies, as well as ethical guidelines for data collection and reporting.
- Lead efforts to promote accountability, learning, and transparency within the organization’s programs.
Education Other Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Development Studies, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in M&E, data analysis, or program management, preferably within an NGO or development context.
- Experience working in community-based projects, especially in the Tanzanian or East African context, is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, STATA, Excel).
- Proficiency in designing and implementing surveys, data collection tools, and M&E frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
- Strong report-writing skills and the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with online data management platforms and mobile data collection tools (e.g., Kobo Toolbox, ODK).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
