Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Safety and Security Manager on behalf of our client to oversee and enhance the safety and security framework of our organization's operations. This role ensures the protection of staff, beneficiaries, assets, and activities while enabling the organization to achieve its mission effectively. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills to develop and implement comprehensive security strategies.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety and security policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Conduct risk assessments, identify threats, and design mitigation measures to minimize exposure.
- Coordinate and lead incident response, ensuring effective management of emergencies.
- Design and deliver safety and security training for staff at all levels.
- Promote a culture of security awareness across the organization.
- Investigate security breaches, incidents, and accidents to identify root causes and preventive measures.
- Manage the reporting of security issues to relevant authorities and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with local and international safety and security regulations.
- Regularly report on safety and security updates, including assessments and incidents, to senior management.
- Collaborate with local authorities, partners, and other organizations to share security-related information and best practices.
- Represent the organization at external security forums and networks.
- Ensure the physical and digital protection of organizational assets and sensitive information.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions to operations.
Education Other Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Risk Management, International Relations, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in safety and security, preferably in an NGO, humanitarian, or international development context.
- Proven experience in risk assessment, incident management, and crisis response planning.
- Strong understanding of the security dynamics in humanitarian and/or development settings.
- Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in conflict or high-risk environments.
- Familiarity with international security standards and frameworks.
- Certification in safety and security management is an advantage.
- Proficiency in using security-related technology, tools, and software.
- Fluency in English is required; additional languages relevant to operational areas are a plus.
