Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Beekeeping Officer on behalf of our client to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining their apiary operations, ensuring the health and productivity of bee colonies, and producing high-quality honey and other bee-related products. This role involves hands-on work in hive management, pest control, and honey harvesting.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage and care for bee colonies to ensure their health and productivity.
- Inspect hives regularly to assess bee health, identify pests or diseases, and implement appropriate treatment or preventive measures.
- Maintain, repair, and clean beekeeping equipment and hives.
- Harvest and process honey, beeswax, and other bee-related products following industry best practices.
- Monitor and manage bee feeding during seasons when natural forage is insufficient.
- Breed queen bees and split colonies as necessary to sustain healthy hives.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations related to beekeeping.
- Keep detailed records of hive health, honey production, and maintenance activities.
- Educate and provide guidance on bee-related activities to team members and stakeholders.
Education Other Skills Required
- Bachelor, Diploma or Certificate in Beekeeping Science and Technology
- Completed training under the Beekeeping Training Institute
- Minimum of 1-year experience in beekeeping activities
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to train and coach others
- Ability to mobilize farmers at the grassroots level
- Competency in Microsoft Office and G-Suite
- Excellent administrative skills
