Job Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Group is responsible for overseeing the financial health of the Group across its diverse operations. The CFO works directly with the Group CEO and other executive leaders to define and execute financial strategies that align with the Group's long-term goals. This includes managing financial reporting, consolidation, risk management, and optimizing financial performance for the Group's 20 subsidiaries in multiple African markets, including Tanzania, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, and other regions.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Work with the Group CEO and other executive leaders to define the financial strategy of the Group, ensuring alignment with organizational growth and profitability objectives.
  • Lead the development of short-term and long-term financial plans, including annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring they reflect the strategic priorities of the Group.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, cost reduction, and operational efficiency across the Group's subsidiaries, ensuring sustainable profitability.
  • Oversee the consolidation of financial accounts for 20 subsidiaries across various countries. Ensure the accuracy, compliance, and timely submission of consolidated financial reports in line with IFRS and local regulations.
  • Ensure that financial reports accurately reflect the Group's financial performance, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Provide in-depth analysis of financial results and performance by region and business unit.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, and legal regulations across all operating countries, working closely with internal and external auditors.
  • Identify key financial risks that could impact the Group, including currency fluctuations, interest rates, and credit risks, and implement strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Develop and execute financial hedging strategies, including managing currency, interest rate, and commodity risks to protect the Group's financial position.
  • Oversee the management of cash flows, ensuring that liquidity is optimized and that working capital is efficiently utilized across all subsidiaries.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for financial performance across the Group. Monitor and evaluate performance regularly, providing actionable insights to the executive team to drive financial
  • success.
  • Oversee the budgeting process for all departments and subsidiaries, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and cost control measures are in place.
  • Regularly analyze financial performance versus budget and forecast, identifying areas of improvement and recommending corrective actions where necessary.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to ensure high levels of performance and alignment with the Group's objectives. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the team.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments, including operations, HR, and sales, to ensure financial strategies are integrated into the broader organizational goals.
  • Support the professional growth and development of the finance team, providing opportunities for skills development and career progression.
  • Manage relationships with investors, banks, and financial institutions. Provide regular updates on the Group's financial health, performance, and strategic direction to stakeholders.
  • Work with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and transparency in all financial matters.
  • Prepare presentations, financial reports, and updates for the Group's Board of Directors, investors, and other key stakeholders.

Education Other Skills Required
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. Professional certifications such as CFA, ACCA, CPA are highly desirable. At least 10 years of experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., CFO, Financial Director, Senior Finance Executive) in a multinational company, ideally within the logistics, transport, or financial services sectors.
  • Experience in managing financial operations across multiple countries, particularly in Africa, is essential.

Skills:
  • Expertise in IFRS and financial reporting, as well as financial consolidation for multinational groups.
  • Proficiency in financial management systems (e.g., ERP, SAP, advanced Excel).
  • Strong understanding of financial risks and hedging strategies, including managing currency and interest rate risks.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing finance teams in a complex, multinational environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively engage with senior leaders, investors, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically and make decisions that drive the long-term financial success of the Group.
