Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join our team in Tanzania. The ideal candidate will oversee mining operations, ensure the implementation of efficient and safe mining practices, and contribute to the development and execution of long-term mining strategies. This role requires technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a commitment to excellence in mining operations.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and implement mining operations to optimize resource extraction while maintaining safety and environmental compliance.
- Supervise and mentor mining engineering teams, ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost analyses, and risk assessments for mining projects.
- Prepare and manage mining schedules, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and personnel.
- Evaluate and implement new mining technologies and methods to improve efficiency and sustainability.
- Monitor and analyze operational performance, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with Tanzanian mining regulations and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of mining processes.
- Develop and oversee safety protocols to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
Education Other Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mining operations, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
- Strong knowledge of Tanzanian mining regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in mining software such as Surpac, Vulcan, or MineSight.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets and schedules.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with various stakeholders.
- Physical ability to work in mining environments, including remote locations.
- Experience with open-pit and underground mining operations.
- Knowledge of sustainable mining practices and renewable energy applications in mining.
- Fluency in Swahili and English is highly desirable.
