Job Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for meeting company goals and expectations in purchasing while staying within your department’s budget. Your job duties include researching to find quality products, negotiating fair contracts, and checking that shipments are delivered on time and are complete. Developing a procurement and inventory management strategy is crucial to ensuring a consistent supply of products for the company. The role will be responsible for creating, measuring and evaluating on annual budgets for Demand (Marketing), Indirect costs, Raw Materials, MRO - Machines repairs and operations, Packaging and Logistics.
Duties And Responsibilities
Overseeing and supervising employees and all activities of the purchasing department.
Preparing plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies.
Develops and drives the identification, design, governance and analysis of supply chain policies, processes, standards, methods, systems, controls, and implements best practice changes to improve buying or procurement policies and procedures. Creating, reviewing, following and enforcing the company's procurement policies and procedures.
Reviewing, comparing, analyzing, and approving products and services to be purchased.
Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records. Negotiate the best deal and competitive pricing and supply contracts by either driving increased value or reduced costs.
Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, etc. Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
Maintaining good supplier relations through supplier meetings and performance reviews and negotiating contracts.
Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
Will require strong analytical skills more focus on strategic relationships, less focus on doing deals and more on business drives and creating value, less focus on feelings and instinct and more on data and analysis. Analysis will be required in Spend analytics, Market analysis, Negotiation, Sourcing and supplier selection. Collaborative/market informed sourcing, Performance and contract management and Risk management.
Will involve influencing multiple key senior stakeholders across Supply (and/or) Demand businesses. Needs to create the right environment for success against a backdrop of diverse and often conflicting business needs.
Ultimately accountable for key external suppliers in the defined categories to maximize long term commercial advantage.
Requires an understanding of multiple cultures and global market dynamics, with the ability to extrapolate insights from external markets and determine if applicable to MBL.
Management of special key projects crossing multiple categories and / or functions.
Education Other Skills Required
Proven track record of consistent performance and delivery (what & how of performance).
In-depth knowledge and understanding of Clearing and forwarding processes, policy and systems.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Good understanding of the category management process with experience of deployment in at least one category.
Demonstrated experience in sourcing and successful negotiation.
Generates good industry insights and the impact these have for Procurement and MBL.
Strong analytical skills with experience in financial or cost modeling.
Proven ability to build effective Supplier relationships.
Excellent Leadership Capabilities.
Good influencing skills and personal impact to gain credibility quickly with senior stakeholders.
Ability to operate and manage senior stakeholders across a global, complex matrix structure.
Ability to establish/ maintain effective communication with stakeholders across global business.
Strong commercial acumen, understanding of the business, and judgment.
Experience of leading/participating in cross functional change projects 5+ years of experience.
The Ideal Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Finance, or a related field from recognized University.
CPPO, Certified Purchasing Manager, Certified Contract Negotiator, CPPB, or other advanced certification in procurement or contract administration preferred.
Collaborate, with the ability to work proficiently within a relatively flat organization, influence others and build commitment to a recommended direction.
Demonstrated leadership qualities, able to engage and influence team and external partners. The incumbent must have ability to build relationships and get up to speed quickly on needs of the operations and offer solutions
Great customer service focus and working within a shared service business delivery model and some project management skills would be considered an asset.
