Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Metallurgical Technician to support mineral processing operations by conducting laboratory tests, analyzing metal samples, and optimizing extraction and refining processes. The ideal candidate will work closely with metallurgists and production teams to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards in mining operations.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory and field tests to analyze ore samples and assess metallurgical performance.
- Assist in the development and optimization of mineral processing and extraction techniques.
- Monitor and adjust processing parameters to improve metal recovery and reduce waste.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of metallurgical equipment and testing instruments.
- Record, analyze, and report test results to support process improvements and decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all metallurgical processes.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, geologists, and production teams to enhance operational efficiency.
- Identify potential risks or inefficiencies in metal processing and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of laboratory procedures, test results, and process adjustments.
- Stay updated on advancements in metallurgical technology and industry best practices.
Education Other Skills Required
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in metallurgical testing, mineral processing, or mining operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment, testing procedures, and metallurgical principles.
- Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in the mining industry.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing operational demands.
- Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in flotation, leaching, smelting, or other metallurgical processes.
- Certification in metallurgical testing or mineral processing techniques.
- Familiarity with metallurgical software and data management systems.
