Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Import & Export Controller to oversee and manage the movement of goods across international borders. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with customs regulations, optimize logistics processes, and coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and government agencies. This role requires strong knowledge of import/export procedures, documentation, and international trade regulations.
Duties And Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the import and export processes to ensure timely and cost-effective shipments.
Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs laws, and company policies.
Prepare and review all necessary shipping and customs documentation, including invoices, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping agents, and customs brokers to facilitate smooth clearance of goods.
Monitor shipment schedules, tracking deliveries, and resolving any transportation or customs-related issues.
Maintain accurate records of import/export transactions and update internal databases.
Analyze and optimize shipping costs, tariffs, and duty structures to improve cost efficiency.
Liaise with internal departments, including procurement and warehouse teams, to ensure efficient inventory management.
Stay updated on changes in trade policies, customs regulations, and import/export restrictions.
Address any discrepancies or disputes related to shipments, invoices, or customs duties.
Education Other Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in import/export operations or international logistics.
Strong knowledge of customs regulations, shipping documentation, and trade compliance.
Proficiency in logistics management systems and Microsoft Office.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
Knowledge of international trade agreements and tariff classifications.
Familiarity with ERP systems and import/export tracking tools.
