Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Auto Electrician to join our mining operations team. This role is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in heavy mining equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in automotive electrical systems, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency in a demanding mining environment.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in heavy-duty mining equipment, vehicles, and machinery.
- Inspect, test, and maintain electrical components, including wiring, lighting, alternators, and starters.
- Perform preventive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Repair and replace defective electrical parts using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Install and upgrade electrical systems, GPS tracking devices, sensors, and safety alarms on mining vehicles.
- Ensure proper wiring and configuration of electrical components in compliance with industry standards.
- Assist in modifying and optimizing electrical systems for better performance and efficiency.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify electrical system failures and resolve issues.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and circuit diagrams.
- Work collaboratively with mechanical and maintenance teams to ensure effective troubleshooting and solutions.
- Follow strict safety procedures and regulations while handling electrical systems in a mining environment.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards to prevent electrical hazards.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and modifications for compliance and reporting purposes.
Education Other Skills Required
- Diploma or Certification in Auto Electrical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as an Auto Electrician, preferably in mining, construction, or heavy equipment operations.
- Experience working with heavy-duty mining equipment such as excavators, dump trucks, bulldozers, and loaders.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuit diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
- Proficiency in repairing alternators, starter motors, lighting systems, and ignition systems.
- Experience with CAN bus systems, electronic control modules (ECM), and fuel injection systems.
- Familiarity with high-voltage and battery-electric mining vehicles is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently or within a team.
