Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Safari Operations Manager to oversee and enhance our safari operations. The ideal candidate will have a profound understanding of safari logistics, exceptional leadership abilities, and a commitment to delivering unparalleled guest experiences. This role requires strategic planning, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to the unique challenges of safari operations.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of safari tours, ensuring seamless coordination between guides, drivers, and support staff.
- Develop and implement strategies to consistently exceed guest expectations, ensuring memorable and safe safari experiences.
- Recruit, train, and mentor safari staff, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Manage scheduling, transportation, accommodation, and equipment to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
- Ensure all safari activities comply with local regulations and international safety standards, conducting regular risk assessments and staff training.
- Develop and manage operational budgets, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality.
- Liaise with local communities, conservation authorities, and industry partners to promote sustainable tourism practices.
- Work closely with the marketing team to promote safari packages, providing insights into guest preferences and emerging trends.
Education Other Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management, Wildlife Conservation, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years in safari operations or wildlife tourism, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams in remote settings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with proficiency in local languages considered an asset.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop innovative solutions.
- Deep respect for local cultures and traditions, with experience in community engagement.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation, wildlife tracking systems, and basic vehicle maintenance.
