Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Database & GIS Specialist to support data management, spatial analysis, and mapping solutions for our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing databases, as well as developing GIS applications to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. This role requires expertise in spatial data management, GIS software, and database administration to drive data-driven insights and support various business functions
Duties And Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain relational and spatial databases to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database functions to support data processing and reporting.
Ensure data security, backups, and disaster recovery protocols are in place.
Manage large datasets, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with industry standards.
Develop, maintain, and update geospatial databases for mapping, analysis, and decision-making.
Perform spatial data analysis and visualization to support business operations.
Design and implement custom GIS applications, dashboards, and mapping tools for internal and external use.
Integrate GIS with other business systems and software for enhanced data interoperability.
Conduct geospatial modeling and remote sensing analysis to support various projects.
Provide technical guidance and training to internal teams on database and GIS applications.
Research and recommend emerging GIS technologies, data collection tools, and industry best practices.
Collaborate with IT and software development teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Troubleshoot database and GIS-related issues to ensure smooth operation.
Education Other Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geomatics, Computer Science, Geography, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in GIS development, database management, or a related role.
Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MySQL, SQL Server).
Strong knowledge of spatial data processing, geospatial analysis, and cartography.
Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or JavaScript for GIS applications.
Familiarity with remote sensing, GPS data collection, and web-based GIS platforms is an added advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
