Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Assistant Accountant to support our finance department. The ideal candidate will assist in financial reporting, account reconciliations, and daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced legal environment.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and tax filings.
- Maintain accurate records of accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger transactions.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Prepare invoices and ensure timely follow-up on client payments.
- Process vendor payments and staff reimbursements in compliance with firm policies.
- Track outstanding receivables and coordinate with clients for timely settlements.
- Assist in preparing budgets and monitoring expenditure against forecasts.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure proper cash flow management.
- Handle petty cash transactions and maintain accurate records.
- Support payroll processing and statutory deductions.
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations, tax laws, and internal accounting policies.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
- Maintain organized financial records for regulatory and compliance purposes.
Education Other Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years in an accounting role, preferably in a professional services or legal firm.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, taxation, and legal accounting procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
- Fluency in English is required; additional languages are an advantage.
