Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Officer on behalf of our client to take charge of our company’s financial health by overseeing and managing accounting operations in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial management, accounting practices, and tax compliance, along with strong organizational skills and the ability to handle time-sensitive tasks.

The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing daily financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and preparing financial reports. This role requires familiarity with financial software, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Keep accurate records for all daily transactions.
  • Maintain books of accounts, including purchase documents, receipts, and payment vouchers.
  • Record and post payment vouchers, petty cash, and journal entries into the accounting system.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Reconcile bank statements and prepare month-end reports.
  • Maintain a fixed asset register and prepare month-end bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure invoices are issued accurately and delivered to customers on time.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments.
  • Maintain accounts payable and receivable ledgers.
  • File VAT returns, SDL, PAYE, WCF, and NSSF monthly.
  • Submit half-year and annual tax returns (P9 & P10) to TRA.
  • Stay updated on current tax legislation and ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
  • Prepare monthly payroll and manage statutory deductions.
  • Assist with budget preparation and implementation of financial policies.
  • Participate in financial audits and ensure proper records management, including filing and maintaining financial files.
  • Track bank deposits and payments.
  • Any other finance-related duties as assigned.

Education Other Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • Certification as a Chartered Accountant (NBAA) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Proven work experience as a Finance Officer or similar role.
  • Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Tally and QuickBooks.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and experience with financial software.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
  • Integrity and the ability to manage confidential information.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with computer applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, and internet usage.
  • Ability to use various software packages effectively.
